Handmade Berber Violin Chinrest in Nero
Handmade Berber Violin Chinrest in Nero
Are you conscious of the environmental impact of harvesting 250 year old growth ebony trees for you violin parts? Now Nero is making Affordable, eco-friendly ebony alternatives for bowed string instruments with Nero Fittings. Offering beautifully crafted fittings that are hypoallergenic, environmentally sound, and produce stunning sound. Fittings Matter!
The Berber (or Ohrenform) is a high center mounted chinrest favored for its leverage suited to the longer-necked player. Cup height in the center of the edge that meets the chin is 30 mm and the arch underneath the chinrest has been engineered to clear peaked tailpieces.
The Nero material is made in the USA from eucalyptus paper and thermosetting resins. It is pure black and mimics the finest Madagascar ebony. It is hypoallergenic and not susceptible to humidity or temperature change. The surface is impermeable to sweat and body fluids and therefore very easy to clean.
The cork (Quercus suber) is the finest quality, fitted precisely to minimize acoustic interference and to maximize stability. The chrome fittings are all individually fitted by hand and are straight and thread easily. The Black brackets have the advantage of being less likely to produce sensitivity reactions for those players with nickel allergies compared to chrome brackets.
