The Darmstadt is a center-mounted chinrest favored for its leverage, resulting from its slightly deeper cup and rounded edge. Similar in design to the Original Flesch, but it is offset to the left side rather than centered on the tailpiece. The height at the center of the hump that meets the chin is 26 mm; the arch underneath the chinrest has been engineered to clear peaked tailpieces.

Figaro fine fittings are made from carefully sourced materials and hand-finished by craftsmen in a family-owned business. Our fittings are carved precisely to maximize acoustic performance, strength, and durability.

The Ebony (Diospyros ebenum) is pure black, harvested in Sri Lanka or the Chotonagpur Plateau in India. It is aged to ensure stability, quarter-sawn, and then carved into individual parts.

The Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) is harvested in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is originally off-white and air-aged to ensure stability. After sectioning into quarter-sawn boards, it is carved and then stained a tasteful orange-brown.

The quarter-sawn rosewood (Dalbergia Latifolia) is harvested in northeast India. It is aged in the log for at least two years. Large logs with the straightest grain are selected for our fittings.

The cork (Quercus suber) is the finest quality, fitted precisely to minimize acoustic interference and to maximize stability. The chrome fittings are individually fitted by hand, are straight, and thread easily. No chinrests available are superior!
