Handmade Elegant Guarneri Violin Chinrest in Ceylones Ebony, Indian Rosewood or Himalayan Boxwood by Figaro Importers
Handmade Elegant Guarneri Violin Chinrest in Ceylones Ebony, Indian Rosewood or Himalayan Boxwood by Figaro Importers
The Guarneri model is the most commonly used chinrest in the world. We have given the design a slight tweak so that it is even more comfortable and acoustically advantageous than ever. The outside is more rounded than the standard model to give a little more leverage for the jaw, and the right foot profile has been reduced to eliminate excess weight and contact with the top of the instrument. This medium height center mounted chinrest is 25 mm at the highest point. The arch underneath the chinrest has been carefully designed to clear peaked tailpieces, avoiding buzzes.
Figaro fine fittings are made only from the best sourced materials and finished by hand by craftsmen in a family owned business.
The Ebony (Diospyros ebenum) is pure black, harvested in Sri Lanka or the Chotonagpur Plateau in India. Then it is aged to assure stability and quarter sawn before being made into the individual parts.
The quarter sawn rosewood(Dalbergia Latifolia), is harvested in north east India. It is aged in the log for a minimum of two years. Only large logs with the straightest grain are selected for our fittings.
The Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) is harvested in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is originally off-white and air aged to assure stability. After sectioning into quarter-sawn boards, it is carved and then stained a tasteful orange-brown.
The cork (Quercus suber) is the finest quality, fitted precisely to minimize acoustic interference and to maximize stability. The chrome fittings are all individually fitted by hand and are straight and thread easily.
Figaro Importers fittings are carved precisely to maximize acoustic performance, strength, and durability. There are no chinrests available that are superior!
