Handmade Hill Viola Tailpiece in Indian Rosewood

The peaked Hill tailpiece is considered the most desirable for instruments needing clarity and projection. Our design is gently swooped on the top, finished carefully even on the underside, provided with subtly splayed notches, and a beautifully inlaid ebony nut.

Figaro fine fittings are made only from the best-sourced materials and finished by hand by craftsmen in a family-owned business.

The Ebony (Diospyros ebenum) is pure black, harvested in Sri Lanka and the Chotonagpur Plateau in India. Then it is aged to ensure stability and quarter-sawn before being made into the individual parts.

The quarter-sawn rosewood(Dalbergia Latifolia) is harvested in northeast India. It is aged in the log for a minimum of two years. Only large logs with the straightest grain are selected for our fittings.
