The Morawetz is a side-mounted chinrest that is hard to find; it is favored by many players for its gentle leverage and the lip that extends over the tailpiece. The Extra High model is 32 mm from the top of the violin or viola at the highest point.
The Ebony (Diospyros ebenum) is pure black, harvested in Sri Lanka or the Chotonagpur Plateau in India. We age it to ensure stability and quarter-sawn it before making the individual parts.
The Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) is harvested in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is originally off-white and air-aged to ensure stability. After being sectioned into quarter-sawn boards, it is carved and then stained a tasteful orange-brown.
The quarter-sawn rosewood (Dalbergia Latifolia) is harvested in northeast India. It is aged in the log for at least two years. Large logs with the straightest grain are selected for our fittings.
The cork (Quercus suber) is the finest quality, fitted precisely to minimize acoustic interference and to maximize stability. The chrome fittings are installed by hand, are straight, and thread easily.
